Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you always wanted to know about proteomics, but were afraid to ask.

  • Question: What are amino acids?

    Answer:

The Platinum instrument fits on your benchtop and seamlessly integrates into your existing workflow, enabling protein sequencing right after sample preparation and chip loading.

Equipped with a user-friendly interface, Platinum allows you to easily start your protein sequencing run following a few prompts. Sequencing data is generated and can be automatically transferred to the Platinum Analysis Software for analysis.

  • Question: How many amino acids are there?

    Answer:

Proteomics provides a comprehensive view of biological processes distinguishing normal, untreated, healthy cellular processes from abnormal, treated, diseased ones at the protein level. Each proteomic study typically focuses on one or more of the following aspects of the proteome of interest.

    • single molecule

Protein quantification involves measuring the total abundance of proteins or investigating the rate at which proteins degrade.

    • ptm detection

Post-translational modifications (PTMs) add an additional layer of biological complexity to proteins. PTMs are known to affect protein activation, localization, stability, interactions, signal transduction, and other characteristics of proteins. Examples of PTMs include phosphorylation, glycosylation and ubiquitination.

    • triple venn

Functional proteomics explores the biological roles of specific proteins, including protein families and protein interaction networks.

    • workflow icon

Protein-protein interactions investigate how, what, when and where proteins interact with one another.

  • Question: Lorem Ipsum title

    Answer:

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
